Cool read, the non-regenerating shields will surly change the gameplay of the run and gun players.

Halo fans. Bungle once left us some copies of "Ghost of Onyx" . I've never read any of the Halo books so this is the only one I've got. Going on holiday next week though and need reading material. Is it worth giving it a bash or would I really need to read the others first? I guess I definitely need to read Fall of Reach by next year :)

Its story is (partially) a continuation of Fall of Reach and First Strike Events, so IMO you should read them first.

Yep you will miss some of the emotional ties you will have to the characters, if you go straight to Ghost of Onyx, but its a great read on its own also.

But yeah, the Halo movie potential is quite staggering. It will get done, in time.

I just keep being impressed by how well they've taken the spotlight off the Chief so successfully. It's better for the franchise and universe that it's able to branch out like this, but I didn't expect them to even try. There are a lot of people for whom Halo is synonymous with Master Chief, who are reluctant to let go of that particular icon, but the universe is so rich with so much potential for any great story to be told, and it's absolutely brilliant that they've recognized this and are moving forward on that note.

The ODST are fucking awesome, by the way. They started being awesome the second we saw them in the E3 stage demo of Halo 2, and they never stopped being awesome. Okay they were a little less awesome in Halo Wars where I couldn't keep them alive for shit, but knowing they were ODST made just moving them around the battlefield awesome. And then dying. Awesome dying.

Could be because this is not the full version of the trailer, but a clipped and edited smaller version.

According to Joystiq, the full version of this trailer will not be out until next week (during Band of Brothers on Spike TV on the 7th, and for download on Marketplace on the 8th).

Just watched the first 20 min of gameplay from the ODST campaign in HD. I really like the mood and setting of the game, will play it through with a friend over splitscreen on legendary. And then hop on to MP and play the Midship remake, easily my favourite map Bungie has ever created.
