some quotes:
In the six hours that I've played so far, Lost Odyssey has been a technical mess, with framerate problems in just about every cinema and on most maps, an animation system that looks like it was ported straight from a PS2 engine, and frequent, inconsistent load times accompanied by visual stuttering as new data loads in.
Barring a dramatic shift past the six hour mark, Lost Odyssey isn't going to blow people away with its visuals or presentation. But, aside from a few cliches here and there, all signs do point to an otherwise solid Japanese RPG.
I'll have to play to the end to see if the game's storyline can match the brilliance of the short story collection. At the very least, the game's story has grabbed my interest, in large part due to the hilarity of Kaim's early companion Jansen, voiced enthusiastically by Michael McGaharn. There have already been a number of awkward, juvenile dialogue situations, however, that I hope will be avoided as the story develops.
In case you were wondering (I certainly was), despite having an immortal protagonist, it is possible to see a game over screen in Lost Odyssey. Kaim and the other immortal characters don't actually die. When disabled in battle, they'll automatically revive themselves, with a small percentage of their HP, after a few turns. The game ends only if all members of the party are disabled at any given time. This actually happens quite a bit, as the game can be pretty tough as far as RPGs go, especially if you don't properly use the wall system and the pay attention to elemental properties of your foes
This so far looks no different quality wise from some of the best final fantasy games (assuming from videos and stuff I watched via stream) and they are crapping on it this much? Lost Odyssey will get 6s and 7s in the USA. Sometimes it seems like paranoia on my part, but you see why I question these guys sometimes? Perhaps if Microsoft paid them that huge advertising money they'd have a more positive opinion of it :P
In 6 hours nothing except the dream sequences seemed to look good to them? None of the cutscenes? Most of the cutscenes were running really slow? Technical mess? huh?

Is Lost Odyssey going to have grandness to it like mass effect to cover up its issues
STREET FIGHTER 4, BRING IT ON!
I think its deffinately going to do better over here than Blue Dragon, I also think it will do better with reviews, I'm still only on disc one but so far the story has been incredible, with one huge twist which i didn't see coming.
The fights are a lot harder aswell, normal eneimes can hit you for up to half your HP, and knock your mages out in one hit, the wall system only last for the first 3-4 hits from what I can tell.
I did a video of the second boss fight It's only in 320x288 though :(, I'll get it online later.
Marumaro for the WIN !!

And with Mass Effect through all its issues, i found to be the most satisfying and fantastic gaming experience since halo 1, it was brilliant, sloppy yes, but brilliant
And if lost odyssey has this brilliance witha good fighting mechanic and good story, then who cares if they struggled on the tech side.
STREET FIGHTER 4, BRING IT ON!
Personally I wasn't that impressed by Mass Effect, it doesn't even compare to Lost Odyssey, no surprises coming from me :P
But Story and Graphics so far are both better than in Mass Effect IMO, gameplay is down to the individual as many won't like this kind of combat.
Obviously there are frame rate issues and the loading times are horrible, but Mass Effect wasn't really the master of either of those either.
Seems my link died .. I'll upload it to gametrailers.

IMO no way in hell are LO in-game graphics better than M.E, no-way-in-hell!! (i'm not talking artstyles as thats all down to the individual). Right now thats sorted can you give me the link to the GT video you have uploaded :).
Mass Effect - Nov 07 - Start the Fight!!!
Bitches!!
GT are still compressing it, will put it up when they have done it.

I believed it would do better review wise as well until I saw the IGN comments. I'm actually now expecting worse reviews. Oh and Jolli isn't there a major spoiler in second boss fight? I definitely want to watch it, but I heard there might be a major spoiler in there let me know if its safe to check it out.

Lost Odyssey is a next gen game sure, but its a traditionial jrpg and thas what it set out to be from the beginning it isn't trying to innovate too much on the technical side of things and I don't really think it has to, but from impressions it appears to do most of its attempts at innovating in regards to certain nuances regarding the battle system. You have any idea how excited I am that your strong characters can't just go around one killing majority of enemies in a single melee attack?

Very nice video jolli. I'm seriously surprised you got an enemy that took so long to take down so early in the game not bad I'm liking this thing more and more. :)
If there is anything at all that they can do for the usa release its to perhaps improve on the load times if possible. If not oh well I'll have a blast with it anyway. Really liking the body language I'm seeing from the characters as they get seriously hurt in a fight or seemingly get exhausted.

The load times, however, are my biggest beef with the game, but again its something I'm more than prepared to deal with because I want the game so much. I know it interferes with the experience, but I don't think it will be quite enough to seriously impact my enjoyment of this particular game.
