LOST ODYSSEY THREAD

WOW this game just got hardcore, after beating a boss which took me 4 hours to beat (obviously lots of retries), it then throws you into another 5 boss fights with no save point ... :S

Oh and I'm only 4 hours into disc 4.

Oh dear god. may be you're under leveled. try and level more if you can although I do remember you mentioning a level cap per each level so it might not be as easy as I am picturing it. Good luck. Enjoy though, I know frustration can totally ruin a game. I hope you're a patient gamer :D

Well yea its level capped so i was maxed out in the previous area.

Anyways I did it, and yea im patient, I haven't fought this hard in a JRPG since fighting the weapons in FF7 though. :P

The end of FF10 was kind of hard too i suppose.

I still remember how much Ruby, Emerald, and Ultima weapon pissed me the hell off. Diamond on the other hand was a cake walk in comparison. Some bold words there, Jollipop.

Also Jolli I remember the 2nd boss fight you showed us then I glanced at some japanese guy fighting that same boss he seemed a lot more powerful than your guys. He had all sorts of cool weapons and a wider range of spells it seems. Understanding the language definitely seems to be a big help. Perhaps then those boss fights wouldn't have been quite as hard as they were :o

Yea those weapons were so damn hard to beat lol. I absolutely love that scene where Cloud was injured and in bed then the weapon just shows up at that island it was pretty insane.

Will have to check it out, like you say knowing what skills the accessories give you makes a huge difference and knowing what the rings do could turn an impossible fight into an easy one.

I'm on a fight now that I have no idea how I'm guna get past, takes 3 of my party members out in the first turn.. :S

Wow. I havent been on the net for a few weeks and now I am very, very overwhelmed by all of the LO impressions/videos.

I'm kind of disappointed that the story isnt as serious as I thought. I was furthermore disappointed when duckroll stated that Shadow Hearts: Covenant had a better story, since I found the story in that to be incredibly terrible. But eh, I'll have to play it on my own to determine that.

Also, I think it's awesome that the same guy who did the translations for Haruki Murakami's novels is doing the english translation for the 1000 Year Dreams. For those who don't know, Murakami's novels are brilliant, and I believe they are very similiar to Kiyoshi's work for LO in the way that both of them deal with very intimate, meaningful, and depressing stuff. I highly suggest this guy's books to anyone who's interested in Japanese literature.

One question to those who have played it. Does each individual text story have it's own accompanying art and music? Or is it like a set number of art pieces and music and it randomly picks one for each story you read? Thanks!

No it has art and music depending on the setting and whats happeing within the story, for example you get a blue sky with clouds with joyful music, but when something sinister takes place the sky turns black and the music changes.

I think the art and music is reused in certain stories from what I can remember, however I don't take much interest in them as I can't read Kanji. (and this game doesn't support furigana)

Will be nice to get the English version at least then I can read these stories and understand what the all the rings do.

I saw a spoiler vid in Nico Nico before where there was this Japanese guy whose levels are around 70+. He was really having a difficult time with a certain boss character. The boss was dealing around 8000+ damage! The video was quite long and the guy didn't even beat the boss in the end. I'm looking forward to boss battles like that. The harder it is, the better!

Sounds awesome, Finally beat that boss and took a visit to the village of the Kelelons, there was a level 8 spell for sale there but it cost 30'000 gold :O

I finally got the Nautalus flighing again so im exploring before I continue the story.

Nice! but oh my .. at the loading screens, too many of them and they're quite long. The game will get hammered in reviews because of that and for good reason I suppose. Well this is their first time with the UE3 and I hope it's the last. They should just use their own engine and be done with it next time (if they've got one that is).

Blue Dragon wasnt using the UE3 that's for sure but I dont think that engine would have been able to handle Lost Odyssey anyway. Anyone know what engine they're using for Cry On ?
