Meh, no choosing of difficulty. No wonder the game is criticized for being too traditional.

But I never thought about renting it, and that is a good idea, I'll do that. Thanks.

As for random battles, they are totally random and hate-able. I've seen some video where you walk a few steps and there you are again, fighting the same two fools you just fought 5 seconds ago in what seems to be the EXACT same environment. How uninspired!

Probably shouldn't bother getting it then. You gotta look beyond such pointless complaints everyone knew what the game was going to be from the very beginning.

So you either like how Lost Odyssey handles the old mechanics along with the story, characters, game world, art direction or you don't. It shouldn't be judged so harshly on the mere fact that it maintains some trademarks of the genre.
what i was asking is if a game can be good with old meachanics or if its worth buying

It is worth get it if you like the genre. :)

If you played FFX for example and liked it, get LO. Really awsome game.

How is this different to the majority of games though, most games require you to fight the same monsters in a given area/level multiple times, whether it be Mario or Halo 3.

Random encounters are supposed to be a surprise tactic as you never know what your going up against, it can be annoying if its ever 10 seconds but the encounter rate here isn't very high for a JRPG.

I don't think he was trying to stir anyone up, its similar to how I wanted to play Mass Effect, I knew the game wasn't my thing but I was still interested in certain things.

I didn't like it though :P

oh, and, its not de javu...déja vu....lolz. i may have been pursuaded to get this. random battles, meh, its just part of the mix. you grind for exp...its just the way it is

Don't think so, the JP and Asian version needed a download for this with BD, so perhaps MW will do the same for this game, who knows.

Random encounters aren't an issue with this game. Enchanted Arms was far worse. Infact, there are more battles in Blue Dragon, a game without any random battles.

I went up against the first boss. Got my ass whooped the first time, tried again, and made that Griphon into fried chicken.

Story is really looking amazing right now. I got the concept of "1000 year old dude blah blah blah" but those little dream things really deliver it with a punch. Shame they aren't anymore interactive, or delivered with narration, because reading for as long as this game is meant to be played is going to become tedious. First time I actually felt some sort of an emotional response out of a JRPG. I guess I can see why some of you Nancies and Suzies were bawling :P.

Voice acting is the best I've seen in a JRPG, easily. That dude who plays Jensen, hil-fucking-arious! "Hey, I need a break. How about a foot massage. My feet don't stink! Kaim? You up for it?"

I'm no JRPG connoisseur, but I'm digging the game as a whole, gameplay and story. That's something which Blue Dragon really couldn't do for me.

YAY! Phaethon Joins the party! :D Glad you're enjoying it man and believe me the BEST us yet to come. I have just finished Disk 3 ... The game just keeps getting better and better! The combat really keaps you on the edge of your seat. Regular enemies can Wipe your ass just like that if you're not careful! I ot my ass handed to me at the very beginning of disk 4 ...... Loved it :D

hmm, i want this game soooooooo bad... i've orderd it on the 23th of januari at play-asia but i still dont have it.... i didnt pick the fast delivery becouse i though id have it within 2 weeks (5-10 days according to play-asia). almost 4 weeks have passed since i payed and still nothing :(. i just hope the package didnt get lost or something, that would be a waste....

Anyone know what is the max character level in the game?

All my immortals now have 99 level and I gain more exp, but veeeeeeery sloooooooow. I have 9 non lerned skills (Sed). All other skills are finished.
My mortals have 69-78 level, and I have achievments like Master Skill Sed, Tolten, Mack, Cooke and Jensen.

I wonder may I continue to learn all remaining skills AFTER overpassing MAX level(100???)?
or may be MAX level block SP gain and I'll cant learn remaining skills((((
