I definitely had a Human Assassin armour in my inventory at some point, it was just a lot weaker than what I had on.

As for the sequel I expect things like choosing to save/kill the council, the Rachni queen and the various nutjobs you encounter might be factored into it somehow.

i dont see how it can considering you dont get to save the game after the game ends, so those vital last choices you make mean very little. i really cant see them doing it like that anyway. imagine the work that would have to go into it. its would no longer be a case of contained branching convo's as it is now. it basically changes the whole game they'd have to create about 3-4 different scenes and intro's based on the choice from the last game....is the council there, is anderson head of the human council or the other guy, are you evil or good. it creates far too many branches in the story...and thats just the begining. i think they'll use a set list of choices freeing the queen rachni, saving the council etc , but your stats will be transfared over.

Slabs, there are different types of Assassin classes, I found one that one Volus sells, the protection and shields was way up high. This is the first class in the armor.

I am gathering credits to get that other one :D

Ok I've got the hump with this game today. I've just landed on Therum and gotten into a large battle. Trying to do the right things combat wise but the enemy AI just runs forward in front of the cover the squad are taking and makes mincemeat out of everyone in about 5 seconds. Same thing happened when fighting the pirates in the same system.

I dig the combat system but if you don't get a chance to do anything before everyone's dead it's lame.

Not only that but now I'm right at the beginning of the planet!

Deft, I had a similar problem way, way back. You're just not used to the combat system strategy yet and you're probably going into battles a bit over your head at the moment. Do some other missions, level, and when you come back it'll be way easier. And don't rush into a battle. Wait at the edge, pick off guys a few at a time, that way they don't just swarm you. And if to many are getting too close, one of your guys should have throw or lift, use it to get the baddies under control, grenades are good too.

But seriously, just relax, breathe, the difficulty is there for enjoyment. Put a lot of points into your main weapon, actually, just fill it up first.

Well I would try that except said battle happens straight after a cutscene and you get control back again right in the open. A quick assign to cover and stay in cover and by the time you get there, the enemy are (quite literally) on top of you. Try and deal with said enemy and the others rush straight through the middle behind you usually whilst your two team mates have gotten themselves shot and are lying face down in the mud on the floor watching you get owned.

I'm a Level 10 despite doing as much of the side quests I could in the Citadel (I missed two Keepers) and going to every other plant in the system before this one.

I've gone after Liara by the way straight from the Citadel.

Clearly I just suck and RPG's are programmed against me but the lack of a checkpoint on this juncture is just maddening.

Try this as soon as the cutscean ends, run to the left, behind the platform your squad will follow you, hit the power wheeland access the situation, then procedd to kick ass!! :)

Yeah the armature and ghosts are a pain in the ass because they are right in front of you with no real cover right after the cutscene. DC is right, head left and let the troopers make their way round to you, pick them off and then work on the ghosts (keeping the angles in your favour vs. the armature)

For a level 10 character you have to get good tech specialist with you, he/she will deal with the enemys shields while you can pick them off behind cover. The problem might be that either you have put the skill points into the wrong abilitys (every character has to max out his stragths, that means that biotics and techs don't need much pistol skills, for damage you can get other characters) or you're really not getting used to the battlesystem. At the start of the fight you should take care of everything that is an emidiate threat to you and your mates, assign your team to do some stuff like throwing and hacking, that way you only receive a little damage and can take out the enemys pretty easy. Obviously you have to take cover cause one direct hit from that giant Geth will kill you.

Take Tali with you and deal with the shields. A good biotic is always a good thing, preferable Wrex (before you get Liara, that is, she's a beast with her biotics), they usually deal with the Geth soldiers while Tali takes out their shields and you mow them down. I was a biotic myself and went with that team, it was hillarious to watch bodies flying around everywhere. In the end I could lift and summon several enemys to one point and throw them all over an edge.

Cheers for the top advice. I actually had Tali and Wrex with me and I was on my way to get Liara for precisely that reason! I think the problem was slightly compounded as I'd played that scenario before but with massively beefed up characters. Then on my first time getting there with level 10 I died but hadn't saved so went MILES back and got the massive hump!

I'm sure after a pint or two I've calmed down and I shall remember to go left this time :P

Still it's a little harsh I think for a new player to be on the receiving end of a lucky shot from the massive Geth thing and then have to go all the way back. Up until today I'd been breezing through the combat happily enough to consider putting the difficulty up!

OMG! I just finished the game, that was amazing! I can't believe it, it was such an amazing ending!

I love the whole humanity leading the way aspect, I actually fealt very proud of our amazing species! And of course, I chose captain anderson as the council member. Finally, that guy got what he deserved. First Saren ensures he can't become a spectre, next he's forced into retirement...then he becomes the first human on the council! O, and has anyone confronted Saren with full charm? I don't know if it happens everytime, but I was able to convince him to shoot himself in the head, kickass, although he was still resurrected in that crazy ass form.

My god, the last 5 hours, from Virmire to the end, just spectacular. I can't wait for the next game...or maybe another book will be coming out?

Best rifle out there for any soldier :

Thunder V +Improved Sighting II +Polonium Rounds IV

Can take down anyone in 4 shots, and watch them melt away, oooh yah, on normal difficulty.

Btw to get the Polonium Rounds 4 i got them from the floating brain thing in novaria, he asks you to smuggle in an item for him to sell on, but go to him and tell him your keeping it, was the best rip off i'd ever made!

The best rifle, that I've found, for killing geth is the Pulse IX, unfortunately you can't upgrade it.

buy explosive ammo X from the pink blobby creature in the citidel!
its something like 1,000,000 credits :P but it kills anything in either 1 or 2 shots
its awesome, i reccomend the highest heat sink you can find however else it will overheat after only 2 consecutive shots!!!
