I like how vivid and colorful it is--I'm hoping this does the franchise name justice. I want an arcade racer out of this, simular (but more advanced, naturally) to Sega Rally 1 and 2.

I know they have a new racing studio, but I hope they can recapture some of the charm that made games like Sega Rally and Daytona so damn good in the first place. A new Daytona game would be excellent--but I'd settle for getting battle on the edge on XBLA :)

Or like, any Sega racer.

Take one 360, add some chopped PS3, stir in some Wii, a sprinkling of DS Lite. Enjoy :)

I'd like to see some decent gameplay footage first, but judging from these screens it seems that they are going for the same look as PGR an Forza, the plastic look that is...

I heard about that, but that's about it. I dunno who they are, what they consist of, what kind of involvement the rest of Sega has with it or anything. From what I gather they're UK based I think? I remember EG having an ad up for it a year or so ago.

I really hope they're a bunch of ambitious and talented chaps. I think they can blow magic into it much like Retro did with Metroid.


Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars is just taking the piss though. Seriously, I'd twist arms and punch groins to get a proper new crazy taxi game, but not on a handheld for the love of god! Crazy Taxi 3 was a nice gesture, but ultimately underwhelming due to the mishmash feel of 1 and 2 together. (which is sort of entirely not the point.. like mixing Terminator 1 and 2 basically)

I'd like a new one in the vein of either 1 or 2, please.

As for Daytona, I never really played that properly. :O

They dnt look like PR to me.

You can see jaggies on the boot of the car.

I'd say that is replay capture, I would expect it look as good as that.

Hopefully Sega don't screw this up.

I wana see what they are doing with Golden Axe and where the hell is Afterburner ?

They're called Sega Racing Studio and are based in Birmingham. It's definitely part of Sega, but I don't know if there are any notable developers/studios that were brought in make it up.

Pics look nice, very colourful.

Now thats what I'm talking about... looks like they saw a bit of Motorstorm and were influenced a bit... not a bad thing. Motorstorm looks like a blast.

Great to finally see something from this game.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification, Deft. I assumed they were english since they had a job advert on a european site.

As for Golden Axe, I'm really interested to know how that's going aswell. I'm even more intrigued by the fact that it's taken in a different direction because I like the themes of the game, but I think a cookie cutter brawler would be a bit disappointing right now. There's better Sega IP to use for an old school revival (and Yakuza is prolly gonna stay vastly superior to anything in terms of scrolling brawlers anyway).

I was under the impression that the Spartan people were making it, which would've made sense (enough sense to have me assume they did, anyway) but it's apparently handled by Secret Level, responsible for the less than exciting "Final Fight: Streetwise". Oh well, we'll see how that turns out.

Outsourcing is risky, but it seems handling it themselves results in certain failure. :(

I miss the days when you could count on goodness from Sega.

Anyone member Ferrari Challenge the arcade version with the clutch? Played the hell out of that game and Daytona at the arcades. Good memories. Always wondered why Sega never did any sequels.


Anyway, I hope this game turns out good. I liked Sega Rally 2 on the Cast, and the arcades.

F355 was great, but I suppose it was a bit overshadowed by the 300 car simulations that followed. F355 had one car. :)

It's only natural for a Sega racer to be a little more colorful and viberant than real life. Where it looks fake in Forza, to me, it's perfectly at home here.
