Yes it would be just like that.
i know. 2 parts containing completely different gameplay.

in the case of splinter cell-

singleplayer - jason bourne action adventure
multiplayer - light/dark, spies vs mercs

in the case of my gears of war example

single player - third person cover based shooter
multiplayer - first person run and gun

it just wouldnt happen. and i dont think it will in conviction.

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. I mean they've already got a -brilliant- working multiplayer game.

Yes maybe the gameplay theme won't match with the single player experience, but is that important? If both modes are good, then I see no issue.

is SHOULDNT be an issue, your right, but seeing as no games have such a jarring difference between multiplayer and single player, i really cant see it happening. i'd love to be proven wrong since spries vs mercs was awesome. but i dont think i will be.

Splinter cells single player has always been good enough imo, the multiplayer needs to go back to chaos theory/pandora style, not a fan of the "everyone can play it" style because that way "no one wants to play it"

Ghost Recon, one of my all time fave games (online) GR2 was nothing more than socom and the GRAWS were very poor single player and multi player
For me to buy a ghost recon game again it needs to return to GR1 and GRITS style
Maybe its just me but i prefer a punishing MP

As for the red steel, not intrested.

But multiplayer games of recent have been "pussyfied" not that i am trying to make myself sound like this hardcore gamer or something, its just that... i prefer a god damn challange, i want to activate my brain and actually have to use the headset to talk strategy to my team mates, not sit there dribbling while only noises going through the headset are your mum jokes and heavy breathing/snoring.

never said it wasnt, i just said it was a third person cover based shooter, which is pretty much the complete opposite of halo, which is first person, and has no cover system.

It's also only sorta run and gun. There's significantly less twitch gameplay in Gears of War than there is in say, Unreal Tournament. You can hardly fire from the hip at all. I can see where there are a lot of things it shares in common with run and gun shooters though.

I still suspect we'll see some kind of multiplayer mode in this game. I think it would be sorta ridiculous if they excluded Mercs Vs. Spies after it had been so well established in the franchise. Plus, if anyone can get away with a multiplayer mode literally being a different game--it's Ubisoft. GRAW, anyone?

Lets hope it does, at least.

Actually shooting from the hip with your shotgun works really well, especially as host. The shotgun is probably the best gun in the game and the most used

would rather have it on my lovelly ps3, but what the hell gives me reason to boot the 360 up

Cant wait, really cant, just a shame my SC buddys have flogged there 360s and jumped to ps3 ...which i cant blame them.

Complete opposite for me, dozens of my mates are on live, and there are so many games on my 360 that i'm trying to finished before the next batch come out its becoming overwhelming :)
