Fixed. ;)
Action RPG, there :)

@Korndog
I dont know much about the game other than what i have seen in videos of the combat, its very appealing for a action RPG.

Combat aside...am i the only one (360) who deleted the install data to get better textures for the sake of loading?
I for one cant notice the loading times with before and after tbh, it may be like 1-3 seconds more but nothing big.
And for some odd reason the textures doesnt get bad during gameplay as before, weird becaude i did same thing a week ago and it didnt do any difference but not this time.

Ah, hardcore Elder Scrolls fans with low standard for combat, beautiful thing!
I truly admire your passions to look the other way around, I wish I had the same mentality :P
i find it enjoyable, yes its not exactly demon souls or ninja gaiden, but for a elder scrolls its brilliant :) i was expecting MUCH worse.

You are using a mage, so you are not seeing my problem with the melee lol (even though you stated the same opinion as me before).
I think the combat for the "Souls"-series is just bad. Limiting my attacks is just dumb, but whatever.

Also, I dont compare pure action games to real-time combat RPGs. There may some similarity to say Witcher 2 and Ninja Gaiden 1, but thats mostly more defensive gameplay and rolling/dodging in combat but thats about it.

I expected much more polishness this time around since their launch title for Oblivion. Though I give alot of kudos for their concept of dual wielding.
Only Elder Scrolls titles I played is Oblivion and Skyrim, I guess fans enjoy it and accepts the combat for what it is but focuses more on "do whatever you want in the world", and it shows. I think thats good, means very good and strong fanbase, good for them.

I guess next time I will look somewhere else that offers my type of gameplay style combined with RPG considering Elder Scrolls will never be that.
Too bad because I really love the art and the world of Skyrim, but I let the hype get the best of me and didnt think combat is main priority for me to get interested in such a game as I usually do (except Bayonetta, art>>>gameplay lol).

Anyways, I wont bring this discussion up again :)

I have a question about you guys that are mastering archery + stealth/rogue types.

What do you guys do when the enemy is very close enough and does melee attacks? you guys still use bow and arrows or you guys take out a melee weapon and start hitting them?
I may give the archery + rogue a shot, might as well, given the rest of the styles one, so why not.

Depends on how much health they got left: More than half? I take out my melee weapons and start smashing some heads in, but normally due to my high sneaking rate and 3x bow damage they don't even get within 5 meters of me...

So you add some level of perks for decent damage in one-handed weapons as back up?

Usually they drop before getting too close but when it happens i usually knock em back with a shout and finish them off. Pretty much only use the bow and shouts/powers. No spells, no swords and just some times a dagger for that 15x backstab.

Honestly Sath, once you get a really high skill level in one-handed, get some perks in and find the right weaponry - Dwarven War Axe and Ebony Sword FTW - melee combat is really fun and satisfying. You can start slicing people left, right and center, and the tactics involved are great (for instance, I have to save my dual wield power attack for the big boys as it drains my stamina too much. I probably should start investing more in Stamina as, at the moment, I have equal stats in all three categories. While that does make me well-rounded, it means each one drains a little easily for my liking (and I only occasionally use magic to be honest).

Had my toughest challenge yet in my play sesh yesterday. One of those couriers gave me a letter revealing a source of power in a random location, and had to defeat a Draugr Overlord and some random demi-God to revel in the goods (which happened to be phase 2 of Whirlwind Sprint). Got some epic loot as well... the Ebony Sword is awesome, and I got some amazing helmet/mask much like the one that Uruk's companion had on (a sorta tribal mask?).

I've put all of my perks in sneak and archery so far, only 1 in one-handed weapons if I remember correctly...

So 40hrs in and no doubt best game i've played this year, i'm a Mage\Archer and fell all before me!! :), i'm really enjoying the combat and some of my dual wield powers are insane!, the exploration and locations are the true gems for me though, every time i set a location to travel too, i always get sidetracked and never make it their, so much engaging stuff to see and do and its beautiful!.

My biggest complaint are those bloody companions\followers (who i only use as mules) i mean how dumb are those fuckers! if there not setting off traps then there stealing my kills or running up to Giants\Dragons or Bosses and shouting 'come on then, i dare you to hit me!' then dying after 2 slaps like the bitches they are, forcing me to reload my last save :/, i have now stripped them of everything except for a bow and arrow, they get in less trouble now, but are still assholes! (rant over).

But apart from that loving every min!! :)

I am at lvl 6 now with 2 perks on Archery with 60% damage, I took out two giants with alot of arrow. Went into a save spot on a cliff and killed them. IMO, overpowered, but satistfying killing those giants because how damn strong they are if you get close.

@Blmbox
I have seen people with some crazt high level armor and weapons and perks on youtube, I am not seeing the satistfaction to fancy my interest in melee from what I have experienced myself. All I see is quicker deaths, even a 2-5 hit attacks against a full healthed dragon! lol
Some may enjoy it, but I cant so I have stopped trying. And its for the best :)

I added one perk to light armor (just incase lol), and 2 on the Overdraw (first perk) which is now 60% more damage. I will add some sneaking, but really, even if you sneak alot around enemy without doing any assault you gain some levels.

I would love to get Quick Shot, it gives 30% faster draw which I like hehe.
I hope this archery + rogue/hunter type clicks with my style. But at this level, I wont say much other than, its nice so far.

Ps. I really want Aela as my companion, does she have any advantages other than looking real hot and have nice archery skill?

Man is it me or is archery overpowered! (not complaining, liking it so far).

I was I think level 6, one shot kill (with 60% damage and 20% sneak skill) on Draugr's!
I had similair damage stats on weapons and yet they took more hits than a simple arrow lol

I added 25% sneak (very helpful), have 60% archery damage, Eagle eye (zoom in).

Now I am close to level up and I dont know which one to pick between Power Shot which staggers all enemies except big ones or take Steady Aim which will slow time by 25%?
I think I should take Power Shot for more fighting chance because time slowing down isnt that much of a big deal in this game it seems.

Thoughts?

But overal, I feel like a predator hunter with this build, its not bad so far.
Easy kills even on those damned giants!

But my nemesis is those damned trolls/frost trolls. they are weak towards fire so I dont know how to deal with them with simple arrows.
Though I use poison tips alot on enemies that I know that wont go down fast.

Take the slow time, it's handy with stronger enemies as you can shoot more arrows before they detect you (and it's easier on moving targets)...

But 50% staggering other than big enemies, its VERY appealing, especially those bastards with shield and big weapons.
Does trolls and bears count as big enemies?

I mean, so far I havent needed any slow time, even for the giants.
I just make sure I go to a "glitch spot" were they cant near me or hit me then I just start releasing my arrows on them.
