GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Before Anthem, Mass Effect: Andromeda crashed pretty violently in the EA galaxy and the several updates which followed its release barely managed to ease the fans' anger. We still wanted to return to the game in order to show it to you in HDR as its landscapes still look very good today, but we were disappointed to see that the technical issues we encountered with our GTX 1080 back then are still there 3 years later. It means that cutscenes and dialogue sequences drop frames now just like they did at the time and our RTX 2080 Ti made no difference. To make matters worse, it's not even always capable of maintaining a smooth framerate during gameplay when playing in 4K with a 75% resolution scale... Anyway, the 2 videos we recorded are at least pleasant to watch if that's any consolation.

After the PC and Xbox One videos of Mass Effect: Andromeda, here is now the PS4 Pro version with these 4 videos showing the very beginning of the adventure.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is now available to all, so here is a bunch of new PC videos on ultra. The following footage shows what happens shortly after the content proposed to EA Access subscribers. The visuals are a bit more impressive here than on the surface, mainly thanks to the lighting, though even Eos looks better once the sun has fully risen at the end of the mission. You've probably all read the reviews by now, so you know what to expect (a solid shooter that does not do too well when it tries to be an RPG), but after 9 hours playing, we haven't really changed our minds. That being said, the desire to explore uncharted new worlds is appealing enough to make us want to give it a go, which is what most players might do too after all. Let's just hope that the mixed reviews will serve to make the sequel a better RPG with fewer technical hiccups.

After the PC videos of Mass Effect: Andromeda, here are Xbox One videos from the very beginning of the game, showing the introduction and some planet gameplay, including a framerate analysis.

After what seemed to be a rather engaging prologue, we have to say that Mass Effect: Andromeda is not making us want to keep playing. The beginning of the first real mission we played during the French livestream was pretty boring, and worse, pretty poor in terms of atmosphere. To that, you need to add the problems with the facial animations and the animations in general, not to mention the horrible character models, which is a lot to take for someone who has purchased a AAA game. Maybe what comes next gets better, maybe the story will make it worth our while, but for now, we don't really have the motivation to push further. We'll wait until the reviews come out to find out if we should play it or not.

Like all those who graciously subscribed to EA Access, Gamersyde has finally been able to play Mass Effect: Andromeda on PC with ultra settings. Even with our GTX 1080 and a 1080p resolution, we have witnessed frame drops during cutscenes (which is all the more surprising as they aren't the least impressive visually), but gameplay sequences seem smooth overall. Pushing the resolution to 1440p results in occasional framerate issues during gameplay. Aside from all the technical issues Gaf members have been making fun of in the past few days, this new episode seems engaging enough to make us want to keep playing. There is nothing mind-blowing about the beginning, as you'll see, and firearms still lack the necessary feedback to be really fun to use, but there is still something appealing in the discovery of strange new worlds, at least for us. If you're curious, join us tonight at 9:00 CET for a new (short) livestream.

A rarity happened, Electronic Arts released a good quality video file instead of just a Youtube link. In-game footage but no gameplay in this one as it is about Natalie Dormer who lends her voice to the character Dr. Lexi T'Perro in Mass Effect: Andromeda.
We're sharing next to it a few older trailers -in case someone find the interest- such as the TGA gameplay trailer in 4K and also the Andromeda Initiative videos from Bläck Studios and Creative Director Laurent Clermont. The game is launching next month.
