Ok kind of random but... wasn't max payne 3 announced??? What ever happened to that?
Not being made by Remedy at all, so I don't really know how much to expect from that one. However, I'm genuinely interested in the animation system used, and the surprisingly clever choice of new location for Max.

Still, without Remedy having any involvement whatsoever, I don't really know what to think. I'm already sure as hell not buying another COD title, but then the next major COD game isn't being made by Infinity anyway. Both studio heads are gone and literally every single lead that existed on the development team is now gone. Some have already joined with the new EA backed studio, Respawn Entertainment. Basically, Infinity is no longer what it was, but basically there is surely some remnant of what Infinity was still at Activision, but that may not be enough.

With this new Max Payne game, I don't think there's any single individual that was involved on the first 2 Max Payne games that is involved with it.

I actually remember people comparing Max Payne 3 to Uncharted, lol. Guess we'll see how it looks when they actually decide to show the damn thing in video form.

It comes in because the situations are the same. Remedy, the people who made Max Payne as amazing as it is, are not working on this new Max Payne game. They aren't involved. That, to me, is a big deal from not just a gameplay standpoint, but also a storytelling standpoint.

Just look at Max's appearance and the location he's in. Is that something Remedy would've done? I just don't know, as excited as I am about the location chosen by Rockstar.

A COD reference is fair here because that's basically also the case for the next major COD game after Treyarch's customary piggyback off the success of the last real installment. A great deal of the team and minds that made COD4 and MW2 possible, are no longer there. All the top people are gone from Infinity, and that situation is even more severe for Remedy who has zero involvement in Max Payne 3.

If the COD reference is touching a nerve, perhaps a Halo one would do instead? Halo Reach, for now, and possibly ever, is Bungie's last Halo game. 343 Studios will now have the monumental task of following what Bungie has done with the games in the franchise, without having a large majority, or even a small amount of the people who were behind the Bungie Halo games. They have Frankie, but 343 will be a significantly different development team from Bungie is what I'm getting at. The next Halo title will be getting made by an entirely different team of folks that have been working on the Halo titles for the last 8-10 years. The game may still end up being quality, but that's something that has to be pointed out. Rockstar making the next Max Payne game shouldn't provide anyone with comfort, as talented as they are.

Ah, I see now. I didn't quite catch up on that reference. Fair enough, and I too am a little cautious with Max Payne 3 without Remedy's input. But, whatever kind of game it'll be, I'm sure it'll be atleast good, if not excellent.

And no, the COD reference didn't touch a nerve, lol. :)

Hehe, yea, that's what I was trying to say. The game may still end up being kickass, but must approach with caution :D

It's using the GTA4 and Red Dead engine, which is much reason to be excited, I think. That engine is fantastic in the animation and gun play department. Handled right, they could make one excellent Max Payne title that could, even though it's a super long shot that it will, possibly be perceived as the best of the 3.

There was a time, for example, where I just absolutely had to have every Crash Bandicoot game. That's when I thought they were amazing titles. However, since then, there have been a few Crash games released, I think, but they've failed to approach the quality present in the games of old.

OMG YES!

Btw, Gametrailer's streams have been running like crap for me for quite some time now, I recommend downloading the video, or else you'll believe anything you watch on it has tons of framerate issues.

I REALLY wish this was still a PC title, so lame. I bet it would look absolutely incredible runnin on my new pc :( :(
I'm with you, I would have upgraded to a 5870 for this game on PC.

Cool video, some of the enemies are fast :O, I see the new ammo are batteries :)

Yep, batteries are basically ammo for your flashlight. I was especially surprised to see flashbangs! I can't wait to take advantage of those in some insanely cool ways.

I can pretty much bet I'll be wishing that Alan Wake had mark and execute like Sam Fisher plenty of times as I play through this game.

I think its pretty hilarious that theres random flashlight batteries laying around in the woods :) Kind of necessary i suppose but a little looney for sure!

Someone is clearly helping Wake ;)

In the game's opening there is some mysterious voice emanating from a powerful light source informing Wake about the basics of what he'll need to know to face the dangers ahead. What's more, have you noticed that when Wake goes under a light source, the ones where stuff are conveniently placed, the light becomes significantly more powerful, as if there is something else out there besides just the darkness, and it may be helping Wake?

Besides those, however, there are the many hints written in light sensitive paint. So someone or something is helping Alan Wake.

MY GOD... I am so excited for this game that I barely can wait for the game anymore .... I have had to stop myself from watching anything since a month ago and it's killing me... May 14th cant come soon enough!

I totally needed to watch all these things. Now I know what to expect from the game as a whole. Had I went into Alan Wake not knowing it was this creepy, I'd have probably had a heart attack or never finished it.

I gotta mentally prepare myself to play games like this.

Ontopic: I've forgotten how awesomely hilarious Oddball can be. Had a blast last night! But, the matchmaking is damn slow! You'd think MS and Bungie would be somewhat prepared for that.

Also, I'm sorry, but the graphics are really not that great. Whatever it has going for it visually, the end product is lacking for sure. Oh well, it's good fun nonetheless...

I know what you're getting at, however, the real impressiveness of this game's visuals comes through in the quality of the lighting, shadows, particle effects, and the amazing weather effects, which even cast their own real-time shadows onto the environment.
