For me personally though, I'm having to pick and choose what I buy this year.

For instance, I think Red Dead: Redemption will score pretty damn highly, so that's one game in the bag - the same can be said for Halo: Reach and FIFA 11. So, sorry Alan, but I do not wish to take your hand in marriage. Not until you become a little cheaper anyway.

Well, I've seen posts of him for 1593 days to be exact, so I do know him enough. At one point, he actually "saw" a demo of Blue Dragon on the marketplace, it's where the hype can take you. Kids, don't do hype, it will ruin you.

@simon I agree supposed AAA titles I find ultimately lacking, anything main stream outside of Final Fantasy I try to stay away from for that reason.

I have no worries that I will enjoy Alan Wake.

There's basis for mistakes like that on Xbox Live, though. The thing I was downloading was very clearly labeled as a Blue Dragon demo. It may not have been anything of the sort, and it likely wasn't, but my eyes certainly weren't deceiving me, it was clearly labeled as a demo. There have been many other instances of content being mislabeled on Xbox Live, so what I saw isn't entirely without precedent. I gain nothing by making a thing like that up, I can assure you.

And Lebato, I wish I really were paid, I'd be a millionaire by now :P

But back to Alan Wake! It's obvious that this game is going to rock, can't blame a guy for getting excited. I just know when I'm going to like a particular game and can become pretty vocal about that fact, and if I end up wrong, like I've been for titles like Infinite Undiscovery, then I'm more than willing to admit I was wrong :)

pretty simple really, it's not rocket science to figure out....

i have never been massively hyped about the game, and he just said if you wasnt it's probably best to avoid it....he isnt the first person to say that either.

i now have this nagging feeling i'm going to regret my purchase. but alas, i will avoid my gutt feeling and buy it anyway. but the last time i did that i ended up with perfect dark zero, my most hated game of the entire generation. hehe. lets hope this isnt history repeating itself.

Well, it's just that Alan is very medicore game that quickly becomes repetetive and plain silly. I got one and simple rule this year: buying only great games and there are so many great games out there (already released and upcoming) that wasting my time and money on medicore product is imho not wise, to put it mildly :) But hey, everyone votes with one's wallet :) Just consider yourself warned.

No your not alone, thats how i feel also, the 30 positive reviews ive read so far just get me more pumped, but this game will not be for everyone, its not halo :)

Well, to be fair KORNdog, the game has gotten it's fair share of praise and good reviews as well. You can't just ignore that either. And surely the positive feedback this game has been getting can't all be due to hype. That's just a very popular fanboy argument these days...

Also, I thought this game wasn't out yet...

Also part deux, I think it's funny that on one side, people are avoiding games that get great scores, and on the other side people are avoiding games that aren't "OMG10'saccrosstheboards!!!!!112"

Talk about black/white mentallity...
