I don't do that either :P I use my "rig" for much more than gaming, and having a good card actually helps with working in 3ds max. Lots of ram and a fast CPU helps with everything...

PC version is dx11, so its like real life. Console versions looks like videogames. You can actually feel the area when you play it from your fancy office chair. Not to mention the immersion you get when you play with headphones!
You forgot to mention how the mouse become an extension of your arm/hand, which is not only faster and more precise, it's actually much more intuitive too.

PC gaming's posture keeps you on your toes too. None of that sissy reclining crap for me.

B-b-b-but PC's are expensive... and if you upgrade you're only doing it for one game! There are no other games that look and play way better on the PC. They're like, totally rare!

I sometimes teabag my dead 360.

I'm concerned about the knife in this game. It looks slow. I wish there were a way to disable the lunge animation all together. If that were the difference between equipping it and using the hotkey that may make that option worth looking at.

you askin me if i play BF?? thats sad grif. OF COURSE. not as much as you do i guess.
So where did you BF experience begin? On the PS3? Have you ever played a Battlefield game on PC? Have you ever played Bad Company 2 with proper performance and visuals? I know that this conversation does tend to get a little harsh, but you seem pretty sensitive about this stuff too. I can recall you blowing up at me on the news page for stating pretty simple facts: this game will look and play better on the PC. Input is a big deal too. Sure, some people fumble w/ keyboard controls and would prefer to go with what they know.. but that doesn't make it better.

That's not console bashing. I like consoles plenty. I don't currently own any current generation consoles, having sold my PS3 and having killed my Xbox (and subsequently brought it back to life twice so far), but I'll need another by Q1 2011 for Street Fighter X Tekken and SC5. There are still things I want in that space too.

Yea.. I can't really imagine anyone who did want this game wouldn't find a ton of other game content to enjoy as well, both exclusive and the upper tier console port stuff.

But whatever. Do what ya want.

if graphically advanced games where released every other month for PC that genuinely took advantage of new hardware, then sure, i'd see the justification for upgrading a rig to play games at top spec, but that simply isnt the case. one or 2 games release then look substantially better then what consoles are dishing out (dispite them being 5 years old). and that isnt enough for me. would i like to play battlefield and crysis in the best way possible, visually? sure? but do i want to pay the price of a console just for those one or 2 games? not really.

but that's been the case with PC games since i can remember, they have the odd games that justifies having the best graphics card on the market, but then no other release really takes advantage of it. if a game was released every other month that was a graphical powerhouse like crysis 1 WAS, and crysis 2 currently is, and how battfield WILL be, then sure, i'd see the point in upgrading, but until that happens i'll stick to the version with less visual bells and whistles, but plays exactly the same.

LOL.. yeah.. no.

Tons and tons of console games run at sub 30-fps and sub-HD resolutions. Are you saying that pumping up the performance and visuals in those games isn't a big deal? Sure, not every game has BF3-level system requirements, but you could just as easily target superior performance in stuff like Batman or Skyrim, and get superior input options (note: options!) too! Hell, Bad Company 2 is so much better on the PC as is! Hell, so are tons and tons of other ports. That's why this position is retarded. No one.. no one.. builds a PC for one game, realistically, any more than a person buys a console for one game. The content is there.

LOL.. plays the same.

we could do this forever grif but im getting tired of this. my battlefield experience began with BF1942. yeah back than i got a pc. and yeah ive play BFBC2 on highest setting and was not more impressed than with the console version, grafik looks a little better thats it, gameplay is 100% the same and your it will play better comment is bs. oh i forgot the pc version have no screen tearing, that was really nice. look like you thought i never played games on pc huh? i also played crysis on pc with extreme settings but again not that impressed, looks better than the console version yeah but not way better. all you mostly do is bashing console version and talk about how old the tech is and so on. but i think for 5-7 year old tech the ps3 still got some great exclusives that look really good(Uncharted, KZ2&3, INFAMOUS 2)i dont think a 5-7 year old pc could handle those games. note: just my opinions
you need a console for those crappy games omg. SF4 is so bad(button input) so SFXT wont be better. KOF13 will be way better. or BB3. but i guess those games have not good enough grafic for you, right?

There are gaming purists and console bigots, I don't think Grift is the latter. And the difference in performance and gameplay in the titles you mentioned are no where near as subtle as you mentioned. Some games simply have to be played on your desktop in order to enjoy the full fidelity that the developer intended. But I agree that you DON'T HAVE TO play those games on PC to get a first rate experience out of them, especially if the developer has done a good job on both versions. And by that I mean that ofttimes the consoles get blamed for developer laziness.

If a bad game is released on your cutting edge gaming rig, you wouldn't blame your own hardware for a developers' short comings. The exact opposite happens with consoles. If a game has sub-par graphics and performance then it is immediately assumed that the console is what held the developer back. Even in the face of examples like the titles you mentioned for PS3.

For me it comes down to motivation. Some games (like BF3) are worth the needed upgrade to enjoy them fully, but not everyone feels that way.

Is the mouse and keyboard and the gamepad "100% the same?" Controls count as gameplay, right? What about player count? They're not the same. Deal with it.

And your fighting game (and graphics) rant is equally lolworthy but I don't need to go there.

I'd like to add, however, that graphics and game performance don't actually come first for me. When I first started playing Call of Duty 4, I opted for the PC version, despite barely fitting into the requirements w/ a first gen single core Athlon 64 and Geforce 6800GT. That hardware was essentially part of the same generation as the original Xbox, and I opted to play a 360 title on it.

Why? Well, because other features (controls, severs, mods, and the competition community) keep me squarely interested in PC shooters when I have the opportunity. If I still had a PS3, I'd probably play KZ3 too, and I happen to be a pretty dang big Halo fan.

yeah your right m/k is not the same as a pad. a gamepad is way better for gaming than m/k, sorry. i didnt even noticed that there are a bigger player count on BFBC2(PC) lol. i think its not worth it to update your pc for one game just that you can play it on full settings. that why i hopped on the console train. pc gaming is just a waste of my hard earned money.

Consoles are for people who are lazy. Laziness is in great abundance with the way things are now in the world.

This is also why games are rarely a challenge anymore as well.

That's merely my opinion of course.

However what is fact: the mouse and keyboard has the advantage every time. This debate has been around since as long as I can remember. It shouldn't even be debated though. Mouse and keyboard = precision

lol tinks typical pc fanboy opinion. because there are enough games that can offer a good challange. so you wanna tell me m/k is better for gaming than a GAMEPAD. are you sick? m/k is only good for two gaming genres, FPS' & RTS' thats it. and yeah precision is a bit better, if you doubt that your a pad noob. so did you get it this time? i hope so.

I upgraded my PC to play Railworks 2 and it was worth it! If I want some new game I'll just upgrade again. This upgrading for one game only makes absolutely no fucking sense. Also when you upgrade you can play old games with insane settings.

Bah whatever. Let's actually talk about BF3, it's more interesting than this BS anyway.
