-Concept for BF3 has been in the works for years, waiting on proper tech to seamlessly come together
-Frosbite 2.0 is the culmination of this tech, entirely re-written
-Lighting sounds neat, one "probe" contains more lighting information than an entire BFBC2 level.
-Level destruction is going to be "believable" but basically everything is destructible.
-Character animations powered by ANT, what EA Sports uses.
-AI characters and multiplayer characters have different animation sets
-No more "gliding" animations that look off, animation realism is a focus
-Captured their own war audios (bullets, tanks, helicopters, etc) at different distances to ensure realism
-Better audio cues for certain actions, more easily able to listen for threats
-Plan on better, more immediate post release content
-More unlocks than BFBC2
-Dice trying to find a good balance between customization of your character and not having "pink rabbit hat(s)"
-4 classes
-Will talk about squads "later"
-Looking into a theater mode but can't talk about it
-Will have co-op
-There will be a kill-cam but it can be turned off
-BF3's team is almost twice as big as the team for BFBC2
-They want the pacing of the single player mode to be balanced, with highs and lows. Makes the comparison to a song vs a guitar solo.
-Part of the single player mode takes place in Sulaymaniyah - Iraqi Kurdistan.
-"Fuck" will be used often, so M rates for sure
-There will be an earthquake in a level. The destruction sounds very impressive. 7 story building collapses, looks very well done
-Significant narrative that goes with the SP mode
-More than one setting, you're not in the middle east for the whole game
-PC version is lead version
-Why 64 players for PC only? No complains from the console crowd.
-No mod tools at release. Maybe none down the line either. Frosbite 2.0 is complex and mods tools would have to be dumbed down, so does Dice really want to put their time to that or would it be better spent elsewhere?

It looks ridiculous - and I mean that in a good way.
"First come smiles, then comes lies. Last is gunfire"
1) 4 Classes = more lonewolf play and no specialization! yay!
2) I see no health or stamina indicators :/
3) No mods :(
edit: a lot of people are speculating that they'll use 2142's class structure, which essentially combined assault and medic instead of splitting support's role into medic and assault. That would be much better, but I still wish there were at least five classes. Splitting AT and medic up isn't a very big deal though, since they'll end up being custom versions of Engi and Assault if that's the case. That's really the best case scenario.. but I don't know why we should expect that over Bad Company 2 kits.
Oh and that UI is suspect. Not only is there no indicators, but there's no mini map? No ticket count? Maybe there are just elements missing, unless they've totally gone in a different direction. Or it's just the single player UI, which makes sense.
Hopefully my gtx 470 can run it max at 1080p with decen framerates. Yeah I might be asking too much :P

I like that specluation, of classes being like 2142, at least better than BC2. (Hope it's true!!!!)...
Here's classes info from 2142 (wikipedia):
Recon: The Sniper and Special Forces classes from Battlefield 2 are combined as the Recon kit in Battlefield 2142. The main weapons are sniper rifles, while there is also an unlockable carbine for close-range encounters. This class can unlock a variety of explosives, including APMs and remote-detonated RDX charges, both of which can kill infantry upon detonation, and the latter can also be used for destroying enemy vehicles, assets and strategic objects (SAT Track, UAV, Orbital Strike and EMP Strike).
Engineer: The Anti-Tank and Engineer classes from Battlefield 2 are combined as the Engineer kit in Battlefield 2142. The default weapon for this class is a directable anti-vehicle rocket launcher. Other unlockable main weapons include a high-velocity anti-tank rifle lacking guidance systems and an anti-air missile launcher with guidance systems.
Support: The Support class from Battlefield 2 remains fairly unchanged for the Support kit in Battlefield 2142. The default weapon is a light machine gun. Unlike other weapons, this machine gun becomes more accurate the longer it is fired. Other unlockable main weapons are a heavy machine gun and a shotgun. The equipment for this class includes ammunition hubs, deployable sentry guns, a sonar device to locate enemy infantry (Northern Strike only), EMP grenades (useful in revealing nearby enemy Recon soldiers using their Active Camo), and individual deployable energy shields.

And those "screenshots" are sorta BS too. Unless there's a cover system.. or maybe AI just uses cover (soldiers propped up against walls). It all looks very posed.
I'm very concerned about the lack of information about commanders.

MOD edit:
No scans please..
But I would suggest actually reading the part above that screenshot you posted.
Apparently they are doing 2 animation systems, one for the A.I. and one for multiplayer..
I think that screenshot depicts how an A.I. character will take cover.
I really HOPE there is no cover system, cause in my opinion standing, crouching and prone is all we need in a BF game.

Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
And if you're even remotely interested in actually competing, which brings these games to life on a new level, the PC version will absolutely be the place to be.
Oooh, Profound, isn't it?
And I seriously hope that's the case concerning cover, but I could see it going either way. When I watch Red Orchestra 2 videos I don't even know if I'd actually use it even though it's there.
I think one of the greatest quotes to come from DICE in the last couple of days has been: "You don't kill COD by copying it. You kill COD by making a better shooter." It's a strangely refreshing sentiment in what has increasingly become a period of 'follow the leader'.

Bolt cutters... Some kind of sabotage? Maybe you can lock doors or vehicles...
