Seriously dont know why they just dont stop ties with Treyarch and keep IW to make all games it would be cheaper and better for end users. :)
COD3 is still a big seller...

As of last week
37th biggest game seller
Call of Duty 3
Weeks on Chart 44
No. sold 9,696
Total No. Sold 1,119,536

And it was in the Top 10 for 360 titles sold last week. It was a big let down for me but still a big seller, that paled in comparison to COD2.

Yea.. but this way the can get a new Call of Duty every year.. I'm pretty sure IW has been working on 4 since they finished 2.

SGD: How many players online?

402: On consoles 16, some game modes will have 18. On the PC it’s going to be 32+.

SGD: So what are the multiplayer modes going to be in CoD4?

402: Headquarters, FFA, DM, sabotage. Modes will also be brought back from CoD2 along with some modes that aren’t announced yet. One of the unannounced modes are also my favorite.

SGD: When does the beta start?

402: We haven’t announced a date.

GD: What about players who want to play syslink or split screen?

402: System link is supported along with 4 player split screen.

SGD: Any vehicles going to be included in the MP portion of the game?

402: None that you can use. But you can call in helicopter support and air strikes. You can tell it where to go but it’s AI controlled.

Well, regardless of perks, this multiplayer just looks awesome, and I want to try it. This game has found its way into my buy list again, and I find myself with an every shrinking checkbook. Bravo.

I thought his head was gonna explode when they asked him about platforms... he said he felt it was mainly 1st party games they were competiting against so they asked which title on each platform "What is your biggest competitor on the 360?" And as expected, "Halo 3". PS3? "Well, uh, let me think... hmmm... GTAIV... but that isn't happening. No Killzone 2.... Let me get back to you" He looked very uncomfortable at that point.

This is common practice for a lot of games. COD2 reads 32 players on the box--but there are plenty of 64 player servers. Likewise, ETQW is rated for 24 players, and there are already 32 player servers in the beta. For what it's worth though, COD2 wasn't designed for 64 players and it shows. 64 player servers are pure chaos.

There's really nothing in the same sort of genre that is coming out on PS3 this year. Not all that surprising. If KZ2 could ship this year, things may look different, but keep in mind that Sony is still in their first year.

And that has been part of Sony's big problem. "Next gen starts when we say so". So while they take the, "We are still in our first year" the market is saying, "Sorry, the train left without you". It just isn't getting the software advantage the PS2 saw and it is reflecting in the sales data. Sony really needed to have a BIG Holiday #2, as the market is already well into next gen now, but it clearly looks like 2008 is Sony's target date which is really too late for them. And developer attitudes and the sales data are really reflecting this :( No competition is really bad, especially seeing as what Sony has done online is really good for the online community.

Although this is definitely not the place for it...

I don't think shooters were the main staple of the Playstation library. It was mostly rpg, action, adventure. We haven't seen very much from any aforementioned genre.
Sony has a few possible AAA titles for this fall. With a number of mega-high profile games coming next year. We've been pretty much left in the dark as to what the competition plans to bring in 2008.
