The part I'm talking about is something entirely different. They played at the part I mentioned in the podcast. Clearly from Reach and wasn't heard in the reveal trailer.

There are elements in that piece of music that are incredible and convey a very good idea of what the general mood of this game will be like, and I like it.
It sounds extremely badass. Are you just focuing on the guitars? Even if you are, there's no way it's terrible. It's highly impressive and will probably go with some awesome part of the game showing off the Spartans in action, or maybe it will be at some later insane moment in the game's story, when you are dealing with Covenant.
I can't wait to see what part of the game it goes with. But marty is doing a great job of trying to find something iconic and appropriate for Reach in the same way that he did for the Halo series in general with the many different versions of the tune everybody is familiar with.

I can't comment on ODST as I've yet to play it.

The Spartans absolutely do speak like that, they don't always talk as little as the Chief or in a fashion that is similar to the way he has been known to do in the games. The Spartans, as far as dialogue is concerned, have been known to engage in teasing, sarcasm, and other forms of casual conversation.
Carter saying what he did "even the parts ONI didn't want me to" is very eye brow raising, however. Exactly what type of access must this guy have to have seen records that even ONI wanted to keep secret from him? Did he have help from Halsey? Did Cortana get involved? Is he just that skilled with regards to hacking and managed to get in there himself -- or is his rank simply that high up in the chain of command?.
Something is highly, and I do mean highly, suspicious about that Carter guy. If this cutscene is as heavily modified as Bungie makes it seem, I wonder if there's a chance that the Carter name is a complete fabrication and he's, in fact, Kurt-051, the member of Blue Team that was kidnapped in order to head up the Spartan III's training. Even the line "Spartans Never Die, they're just Missing in Action" is highly suspicious. Kurt lives and dies by those words.

And what the hell... Carter is a Commander and Lone Wolf is a Lieutenant. Something doesn't seem right.
To even have such ranks, they'd have to be legit officers and not ones who were simply enlisted like Master Chief and the others.
So, for some strange reasons, they were made outright officers in the UNSC, sorta like Kurt was once he was kidnapped and made a major controlling part of the Spartan III Program. It's highly interesting how in god's name Carter is a Commander.
The fact that Lone Wolf is a Lieutenant is possibly also a very big warning flag that it may be Tom, or perhaps Ackerson managed to get his way and conceal the existence of a third survivor on Pegasi.

Again before we go mad though, cutscenes produced in engine will look better than gameplay produced in engine. However, it's great to see that AA is definitely going to be better.
Anyhow, I called it dead on. Engine based rendering with game assets at crazy resolutions (ala what Epic does). So everyone who was disagreeing with me and saying they thought console games this gen could do this IQ... yeah, you can eat my hat!
What is surprising is all the posts after the Bungie clarification that indicate Bungie is supporting their outlandish views on the graphics... I guess this is why this isn't B3D!

5:24 in he calls in the bat plane, it looks stunning and all real-time.
I probably don't need to show you the many mindblowing cutscenes in Arkham Asylum that are every bit as impressive as that Reach Cutscene, like Poison Ivy's defeat or Joker's Party cutscene and numerous others. Hell, there are a great number of actual gameplay moments that look positively stunning while being completely real-time. If Batman can have cutscenes like that, I don't see why it would be impossible for Reach.
We know that actual gameplay won't look quite as stunning as the cutscene, but perhaps, like Arkham Asylum, they can come close enough and still blow minds during actual gameplay as well. There are some truly nuts cutscenes and real-time gameplay levels in Force Unleashed as well. That level where you fight Shaak Ti, I believe, is just mindblowing... :o
I would post some of Force Unleashed's non-cg cutscenes as well, but I'm sure a few on here have played that game and have seen what I'm talking about. Maybe their cutscenes using in-game assets in video form, like this Reach scene but hey, one can't argue with the sheer impressiveness of Arkham Asylum and Force Unleashed's cutscenes. I don't see why Reach can't do the same :)
They should go ahead and do the same thing that a number of other 360 titles are doing, even go 2 discs if they have to.

I want something that looks damn good too and isn't as hard on the eyes jaggie wise as Halo 3. One of the jaggiest big budget games this gen. Even Blue Dragon many times looked as if was running 4x AA with quite a bit of AF.
Some of those level designs were crazy :o
Anyway, enough of that, I want to see some truly awesome combat scenes in this game, and I want them to really show off the Spartan's HUD.

I don't expect Reach to look all that more impressive than Halo 3. Had they titled it "Halo 4" I'd agree with everyone. Hate to be the negative one here.
Still, Halo 3 had a lovely campaign and overall better than ODST's. Too bad that instead of epic ending to the trilogy we got such a messy story.

As I said though, the sniper guy is really cool, both his voice and his line. :D
