The demo sadly doesn't contain Halo's hallmark - amazing battle scenarios, but given it's only a brief 4minutes slice of the game, I'm assuming the rest of the game will be full of them as everything else is a huge step up from Halo 3.

-Firefight has matchmaking!
-Firefight has weapon drops like Gen Defense
-New weapon with a scope! Looks like laser designator for airstrikes

Ok, that was interesting. The Covenant ships are "equivalents of the Sabre". I'm pretty sure space combat will be part of firefight, maybe even Invasion.

Yeah, sounds like there's actually a very good chance that space battles will be in MP. I was being conservative before, that makes me happy.

And it's cool that the bubble shield is back, equipment haters be damned!

Damn, Halo Reach just keeps looking better and better. Bungie seem determined to create the most full and amazing FPS package in console history. This game has a ton of momentum going for it imo.

I can't wait to see the other surprises in store for the campaign.

MP space battles would just be awesome. I mean, it's sweet enough that they're in the game to begin with.

Bubble shield was the only piece of equipment from Halo 3 that I actually thought was useful and well executed, so I'm glad to see it make a return in Reach.

If you thought the bubble shield was the only useful piece of equipment than you must not know how to properly deploy something like the energy drainer. Hell, I can't think of a single piece of equipment that isn't useful if you use it properly. Sure, the flair was borderline useless, but stuff like the grav lift, regenerator, energy drainer, etc. can all be very useful.

Actually yeah fair play, I take that back; I thought the energy drainer and regenerator were also useful. The bubble shield was my favourite though, and I think it's fair to say that AA play a much more prominent - and exciting - role in Reach than equipment did in Halo 3.

It isn't equipment; as far as I know it's an Armor Ability - you can see the cooldown timer on the bottom left of the screen.

I think that would be a reasonable turn of events, given how armor abilities have already replaced every function of equipment and power-ups. We definitely need more info.

One thing that has not been discussed, which I think is pretty discouraging, is vehicles. They were not very good in the beta. I hope they know this.

I don't immediately disagree with any of that. And I understand the anti-equipment point of view, but I still think that dropping an energy drainer on a warthog and then killing the entire crew was fun as hell! If I had to pick a favorite piece of equipment, that would be at the top of the list.

In this video you can clearly see the cooldown timer come into action once he activates the 'drop shield'. It's also clear to see that this new shield doesn't last nearly as long as the bubble shield did in Halo 3 - I'm guessing this is partly because it's an AA, and partly because it now heals you when inside.

I honestly don't believe there is that much equipment in this game.

I just think there are just a few devices here and there, but I won't be expecting anywhere near the assortment of equipment items, as was the case in Halo 3.

The problem with Halo 3 was exactly as Bungie said: Many times you just didn't know what in god's name you picked up, and would end up using it accidentally not knowing what the heck you had, and waste it instead of getting proper, more strategic and deliberate use out of it.

Game looks like a real winner, though. This is supposedly just halfway through? The video footage helped to get rid of one prominent fear I had, pretty much the only one I had, about Halo Reach, that Noble Six wouldn't really have any interesting backstory at all, and would instead just be some player controlled character purely being used as a camera to witness the exploits of Noble Team.
