Well I personally am quite fed up with the franchise until NG3 wows me, or else...meh.

*bring on Castlevania Lords of shadow* :)

Besides, it was between Uncharted 2 and NGS2 that had to go, and i just bought U2...such an amazing game (more comment on U2 thread) so the option was clear to me without hesitation which one had to go for me to get MW2.

Even my sister is addicted to MW2 MP.

wanted to get this game on PC but because of the no dedicated servers debacle, i just decided to get the PS3 version... i'm actually quite impressed with how it handles.

Giving them money and boosting their sales isn't shafting anyone.

Plus, if I was okay with playing an Xbox Call of Duty, I'd buy the PC version.

And I don't fault most people for buying the console version, if that's what they want. What pisses me off are the people who are actually opposed to the lack of features, who bought it anyway. The complacent consumer, "might as well get used to it," attitude is very sad. Shame on them.

I don't feel bad about buying this for the 360 at all. It's fun and yeah I think it's shitty what they have done to PC, but I'm not gonna let that hamper my enjoyment of a great 360 game.

I am with the Beagle. I don't like what they did to the PC version. But then again I look at the console games out this year and what my best bang for buck is and MW2 pretty much is way ahead of everything else.

I know how Grift feels (see the FM3 thread) but I also understand where IW is coming from on this one fiscally. I still don't like how MS is pushing matchmaking and non-dedicated servers and it really shows in the market. But then again people shouted me down for holding Bungie to their custom game browser and how it hampered Halo 3.

ALL these companies are doing this. And seeing Halo and CoD break 10M copies sold means it is a losing battle with these franchises. I will play them because they are good----AND I will be watching for the HUNGRY small guys willing to do us right.

This is actually something I'm very optimistic about. I know I've said it several times before, but indy stuff like Natural Selection 2 has really great potential. I would also love it if this gave some people added incentive to mod COD4.. there's great potential there too if people want to pick up the slack. It would be great to see a large volume of new maps.. an "official" promod pack would be so sweet.

And I dunno.. to me.. there's never been anything comparable to Infinity Ward's behavior. This franchise has fallen quite far in my opinion, and I held it in such high regard.

I'd feel like an asshole if I bought it on any platform.. but you better believe I'd buy it in a heartbeat if they patched in dedicated servers and gave us mod tools (not that I think that has a snowballs chance of happening!). I wouldn't even care about stuff like lean, because it could be modded back in! That's one of the things I'm actually considering in Bad Company 2. I'm gutted by the lack of prone but if it's *really* necessary it will make its way back in, in a mod.

whoever's idea it was to add the jam smeared damage indicator screen in MW2 shoud be shot..seriously, you take 1 hit and you're basically commpletely blind, it's rediculous, they've also completely gone overboard on the air suport in MP. it was bad enough in MW when a heli was gunning everyone down, but now you can have 2 heli's and a damn hind floating about. it's just stupid.

so far, both in terms of MP and single player, i prefer the first MW. MW2 just has way too many annoyances. and even tho the single player is more "exciting", it's coming across as being a lot less fun. hopefully things turn around a bit later on.

I played Spec Ops with my best friend last night for quite a while... and it was the most fun, I've had in any Co-op situation on Xbox LIVE.

I haven't played much multiplayer except for Search & Destroy and the overall multiplayer experience has improved, in aspects.

One feature, they kick inactive players automatically from the room. I haven't seen what happens to team killers yet.

Should be gettin the game tonight, bro found the COD4 i lent him over a year ago and is trading it in at game for 1/2 off. Might aswell do that as 4 will be dead on the 360 now.

Think i may have to resub to XBL, was thinkin of doin it anyway, couple of my uncles have got into gears and keep buggin me about playin with em.

This is my GOTY. I thought Uncharted 2 would be but I have already stopped playing the MP for that. Just completed the MW2 single player and it was a fucking blast. Very short though. Took me 5 and a half hours on regular difficulty. Now onto some spec ops and MP for oh, I don't know, the next year or 2?

Modern Warfare has sold 1.23 million copies in the UK, day one, according to GfK-ChartTrack.

The number is double that of GTA IV’s day one sales of 609,000, making MW2 the fastest-selling game in UK history with 1,230,588 copies sold.

Broken down, it means that the game is in approximately one of every 24 UK homes.

Holy Crap and i thought the Halo and GTA sales where amazing!

Well, I found it to be very frustrating on the harder difficulties. I left a comment in the whats up box about the location of enemies. They have certainly cut down on the infinite respawn madness from the previous game, but there are sections of the game where there are enemies in all directions and I could find no successful strategy for surviving.

Beagle, im a few levels in on hardened and i can totally see where youre coming from. I've died possibly 6 or 7 times getting this far, it's somewhat frustrating to die a couple of times in the one place, especially so cheaply (like the part where the hummer is blown up, your vision goes to hell, then with the jam vision you can see even less, it was only luck i decided to run for it after dyin a couple of times. Definately fly through the missions quickly.
Gonna sub to live here and give MP a go.

Update: Robert Bowling has just tweeted an explanation of sorts for the mishap on PS3. Apparently, “The amount of players on MW2 PSN overwhelmed the PSN presence server which updates “what you’re doing” and is essential to parties.”
He also stated: “PS3 Status: Patch successful. Trophy Unlocks on PS3 now available in Single Player & Spec Ops. Adding more servers to meet MP demand.”
Original: Infinity Ward ’s Robert Bowling has stated via Twitter that the “Trophy update” has been released on PS3, and should fix any issues. However, the update has rendered multiplayer impossible, according to gamers.
“It killed all multiplayer activity on MW2,” player True_Darknight told Joystiq, which basically had rendered the matchmaking useless.
The devs are currently working on a fix for that now, and Bowling has tweeted that PS3 owners can expect a “party invite update by Friday”.
Hopefully, that will resolve the issue, but until then single-player is the only option until the fix.

The game still hasn't even unlocked on Steam for those who opted to purchase it through there, and already we're seeing what might be the very first hacks released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The video above demonstrates some of the hacks that are purportedly available from a Call of Duty hacking website. Notice how all player positions -- both friendly and enemy -- are highlighted, the lack of recoil on the guns being fired, and the extremely accurate aiming (though this one might simply be the result of a really good player) going on in the video. So much for IWNet preventing players from cheating -- and it's not like there are any player admins with the option of kicking or banning any cheaters that might be present in a game.

I knew this was going to happen. VAC has a long delay in applying bans after flagging someone for cheating. The punishment is more severe than a PunkBuster ban, since ALL of your Steam content gets banned from VAC servers (note: there are non-secure servers for most Valve games!), but in the short term VAC seems less effective. I won't try to start a Punkbuster > VAC debate.. since it's really not clear to me that one is vastly superior than the other.. but when you combine this with total lack of server administration in Modern Warfare 2, you're left with a dangerous environment for players.

Not that you'd need an aimbot if they really increased the hit box size ;)

And the overwhelmed PSN users IW? Seriously, with the status MW2 has been given you shouldnt have underestimated it.

But the wait to friday is killing me, I want it now!
