Well, there you have your extra big FU.. Instead of making it cheaper (or even free) because the game already sold so well they manage to make it more expensive then the expected 400 points because all they can see is the extra money it will bring in because so many will buy it anyway (because the suckers are hooked to the game)..

IW and MS's way of saying thanks to all the fans.. ;)

And offcourse they will not release them on PC.. MS probably made sure of that.. And those damn PC pirates don't derserve their 'thanks' anyway (sarcasm)..

Yes, completely ignore Activision why don't you. It them and only them who have any say on the pricing after all.

There are two ways to make your voices heard about PDLC pricing you don't agree with. The most effective is not buying it and the second is to voice your displeasure at the right people.

Microsoft have zip to do with the pricing on the PS3 or the PC. If Activision wanted them to be free, they were perfectly within their rights do so, even if the "MS blocking free stuff on Live" conspiracy theory some of you are so keen on were true. Given they've got plenty of previous to boot (daft Guitar Hero II pricing being the worst example) it should be them who get the stick here.

It's not easy to know who is in the wrong. I've read various stories blaming different people and the problem, for me, is that I really want to play these maps. But I'm also not happy that they are charging such prices. There are various ways that I justify the purchase to myself, the biggest being that I will play the absolute crap out of them.

When all is said and done, I will pay the fiver for the maps because I know the amount of pleasure that I will get out of them is great enough. That doesn't mean I don't feel angry about it.

I've run into a lot of people who don't give a shit about paying. They either think that the developers deserve the money because they believe they put a lot of effort into the maps or they have played on consoles from the start and don't know any different.

I could vote with my wallet but instead I'm going to download these maps day one. Play all day, and forget all about it after realizing that they have breathed new life into an already ludicrously brilliant game. Good luck convincing the hundreds of thousands of consumers that they are being ripped off.

Right, cause theres already a map set in San Fransisco in COD4. Chinatown for crying out loud. So cool. The only one which looks similar to any of the current maps is Creek. Looks reminiscent of Overgrown. But even then it is going to play vastly different. Weren't those three maps for Halo 800 points?

Chinatown (which is the Caratan remake) isn't very "samey" at all, considering it's an entirely new tile set, and not a map featured in the single player campaign.

Yeah i mean, the maps do look really good and i've been (along with many other of the millions of players) looking for fresh content (as i've played this game non stop ever since it came out). So, i do think they are worth the money and i will buy them day one for sure. But i am aware and worried about the implications of this of course: was this content held back to milk the users or was it developed with feedback from them and to please them? And will we see this more and more, paying 60euro for a game+10 extra content+5euro themes+...? It's crap it's true, but then we all know Nike shoes are manufactured on the far reaches of the world, where people are paid 3 euros per month, exploited to their bones and we still obliviously wear them... I'm sorry about the lame analogy, but my point is we know we are swimming in very murky waters, our wallets are being sucked by greedy companies (MS, Activision...), but still, there's demand therefore they charge whatever they want. sad but true.

EA are Valve's publisher so it's down to them. The direct comments I saw from Valve regarding TF2 didn't mention anyone in particular, just that it wasn't up to them. Perhaps you saw different ones that I missed?

They too.. I don't care who's really to blame.. The platform is offered by MS, the game by IW and Activision, so either or all of them are to blame..

It is frustrating as it's almost a lost battle.. All I/we can hope for is that some day people will see the light and stop buying DLC, even down to stupid gamepics and theme's .. But to be honest I think the days of free DLC are over.. The free platform PC is losing ground, closed industry controlled platforms (read: consoles) are taking over.. Nothing you can do as an individual..

I'm gonna sin today aswell against my believes by buying the new Forza2 carpack.. I'm just as weak as everybody else if I want something bad enough.. But like I said, cars or models whatever is not as bad as tracks or maps as it doesn't serperate me from other players, I can still play with everybody.. If you don't buy a DLC track or map you are out if others go play them, and that sucks, no matter the excuse.. To much buisiness is killing the fun..

I already have over 10 custom CoD4 maps on my PC server which cost $0.-.. You guys go ahead and pay $10.- for 4 maps on the Xbox 360.. LOL!

Looks like the official release time for the new Variety Map Pack DLC for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is going to be 6:30 AM PST Friday morning.

Which I believe is about 2:30pm GMT. Basically in about 4 hours.
