I am unfortunately getting near to that point myself. It's one of the most frustrating online games I've played, with the constant camping, ridiculous respawning and over-the-top arcade feel - too many players running around thinking they're frickin' Rambo - completely destroying any enjoyment I've been getting out of it.

I'm finding it hard to understand what all the fuss was about in the first place.
i'm sorry but this sounds too much like people here suck at the game and can't deal with it. :/

Yeah, sure. It can't possibly be the game's fault. Must be me. My mistake.

It does sound like that is the issue some people (but not all) are having.

Don't be. Most of the perks (like air stuff) are not more effective than MW1's and the game is brutal. There are some annoyances like akimbo shotguns, javelin hack, etc stuff a good beta could have solved but overall it is the same game, just tweaked and expanded. i.e. Brutal.

Tweaked and expanded with lots of fluff and extra large hit boxes. Call of Duty 4 was already easy enough, but you're right, I shouldn't be surprised.. because plenty of people managed to suck at that too.

I'm a good call of duty player. I just hate all this new shit they have added. Nukes, chopper gunner, commando perk, akimbo etc. COD4 was a better game.

Agreed about the hit boxes. Accuracy statistics on guns mean shit in this game.
I became a "good player" in this game and made it to level 42 within a short span of time. I haven't played it in two weeks now though.
I have a hard time finding a reason to continue playing anymore, which is somewhat sad. Both my roommates even have 360's and the game.
Maybe it's just rough with the load times and constantly replaying the same goddamn maps all the time. You can only play it for so long before you get tired of it. My roommates haven't played it in a long time either.

I don't think camping is really a worthwhile complaint though. You're going to have that in any fps. Plus if you run around in this game you get punished usually, so you're almost forced to be a bit slow moving.

That sounds so strange to me as someone who loves pushing aggressively with the SMG in COD4. You absolutely can run and gun your ass off in Call of Duty.

Maybe if campers weren't rewarded with prizes for sitting in the corner, and punished by horrible spawns when they moved, they would actually bother to get good.

This.

It's still possible to play aggressively in MW2, when you're good. The Problem is that camping is rewarded with Nukes and Chopper Gunner, so a lot of people stick to it making it for an average player the harder to play aggressive and do well.

I'm actually not bad at COD when I want to be, so I'm still able to play aggressively from time to time and 'get away with it' so to speak. But there's no doubt that campers do spoil the game slightly for me - luckily I am still managing to have a lot of fun with the game, particularly in Ground War.

Of course you get campers in practically every multiplayer game, but never before have I had such an issue with it. COD4 never had that problem.

When I played the Call of Duty 4 beta on the Xbox, camping definitely presented a problem. People seem less inclined to play the twitchier Spec Ops class on the consoles... and people seem generally less aggressive. Not everybody, just... those people.

TDM is the worst offender on any platform though. Objectives (usually) make people.. play. You do get some campers in S&D though.

I'm glad I wasn't a fan of MW1's mp or else I'd probably not be enjoying MW2's nearly as much. The air support in MW1 was frustrating enough to make me want to turn it off after a round or two. MW2 has its issues(though some are less evident without an extensive MW1 play history), but overall, I'm finding it quite fun and satisfying.

I haven't seen a single nuke yet in the multiplayer. What kind of player allows a camper to rack up a streak like that?

There anybody who's been playing it on the 360 and enjoying it? GT is Ronsauce...hit me up. *awaits crickets chirping*

Its not about allowing people to rack up the kills for it, it just happens, u get a killstreak or 2 and its easy to get to 20+ killstreak for a nuke, chopper gunner alone could do it provided its an open enough map.

I think ive put in a total of 50+ complaints against jav glitchers, dont think ive had a game over the past 2 days that haven't had at least 1 (usually much more) glitcher. It really is frustrating seeing them come at you, you either let em knife you or take em out and kill half ur own team.
I hope they do end up banning them, and i wish they would get a fix in asap, for that and the lag / host changes.

Like Ronsauce, never had this problem. I have seen a chopper gunner 1x in 12 hours of online play. What is your KDR? Do you just run into blind corners and camp spots hastily and feed kills over and over? The other players need to be REALLY good to get that sort of spree and so good you cannot BREAK the spree. My KDR is just over 1.2 and while it is rising quickly until this weekend my longest spree was 7 (now 15) and I have not had issues breaking opponents. Kill cam and all.

Glitchers are a problem but I didn't see a single jav one the entire weekend. I only had a couple rounds (less than 5) where I have seen them ruined by such.

Anyhow, I haven't seen a single nuke and only a handful of AC130s. I am surprised at how MW2 really doesn't allow wholesale rapage of the newbs who cannot play. Hit boxes are fairly big and there is a lot of magnatism and adhesion.

If you are seeing a ton of nukes and high end killstreaks my only real conclusion is you are FEEDING the other team streaks.

Sorry, the other team isn't going to get 25 kills without YOU giving them long streaks of death.

So the question is why are you dieing 3-5 times in a row without kills? I admit, I sometimes die 3 or 4 times in a row and it is all because I spawn and RUSH. When I stop, take a good look where I am, find some action, and flank intelligently I don't have this problem.

Use the perimeter and elevation, ambush choke points, and flank firefights you will stop feeding the other team 25+ kill streaks!

Send me a Invite (PM'd). Some of Phaethon's friends play and there is a handful of B3D guys on regularly.

After reading the complaints (getting owned all the time by streaks + savaged by air vehicles and certain perks) it really seems a lot of people refuse to adjust to the gameplay style. I know when I started Halo I had to adjust to the rebounding shields, ranged weapons, melee, nades, etc and it took some practice. Some things that worked in other shooters just DID NOT WORK in H3.

Really, if you are seeing Nukes all the time that means you are feeding the other team carelessly through either being bad (no fault there) or playing stupidly and blaming the game. MW2 is pretty brutal and is not forgiving. Unlike H3 where a mistep out of cover => being hit, but rarely dead, in MW2 if you step out you could be instant dead by most weapons. Sure all games have blind corners where a shottie is instant death and the issue with snipers, but MW2 levels the field where a lot of guns are instantly brutal.

If you aren't adjusting for this, well, thanks for the free kills >:D

Acert, i play ground war, my KD atm is 0.92 and climbing. I get killstreaks over 10 quite regularly and thats without having it setup for racking up killstreaks (air drop, SG and emergency drop dont add on), if i went predator missile / harrier strike, chopper gunner / ac130, nuke it would be easy enough to get the first few kills needed then camp somewhere to rack up the rest from streak rewards.

EDIT: I wasnt complaining about nukes, think ive seen maybe 4 in over 40 hours of play in ground war.

Edit 2: And the system itself is built to screw players over, ive been on teams that were more afk than playing. Then ive had the system spawn me in the same spot on skidrow 3 times in a row with a guy at my feet knifing me down. The spawn system can really be terrible with people spawning in the most awkward positions.

If you're getting 10+ streaks regularly, that means with a .92KDR you are also getting equally as many 10+ streaks (if not more as sub 1:1), or minimally a lot of 3-5 that more than offset your streaks. i.e. Kill 10 in a row, then die 11 in a row (!) or 10 in a row then 5 sets of 3-death streaks offset by 1 kill in between.

We seem to have totally different expereinces with the game.

That said, if you want to avoid camping get out of TDM. A lot of clans are grouped together and it encourages camping. Do objective modes as this only allows "camping" around objectives--which allows concentrated use of flanking, nades, etc to dispose of "campers" (i.e. people protecting objectives).

Objective modes generally speaking have slightly better spawns too. I don't know why people play Call of Duty TDM. It's a brainless clusterfuck! Play FFA instead! ;)

I'm really surprised by that too. But I don't think I should be...

All of the perks and general diversity that the game allows for levels out the playing field. Even stuff like adhesion and auto-aim levels out the playing field. The game would probably allow for the "wholesale rapage of noobs" more freely if that stuff weren't there at all. It's a bit like a newbie going into a game of CS1.6 (or.. promod! ask phaethon or firewire ;)) for the first time... they're far more likely to get destroyed there than they are in Call of Duty anything.

It wouldn't make sense to make a game for noobs and then punish them for playing the game :)

I've seen my first one today, was on my team though. The friend I was playing with had seen 5 in the last 2 days. I know people who got 2 Nukes in a row and 10 Nukes total, maybe you're underestimating a camper who knows his business.

But that's hardly the point. The simple truth is that these streaks are there and they are like a carrot in front of you. Say you've got 5 kills, the missile got you a double kill and you're just 4 kills away from chopper gunner. What would over 99% of players do in this case? Most would camp it out (or like me, play extremely defensively).

The way you set up your streaks determines a lot of your play style. Most people set their streaks way too high and chase after it the whole game. Streaks are the whole game, really. The whole MP rotates around it. It was bearable in CoD4, where they more or less just boosted your high K/D ratio, it's not ok in MW2.

Eventually it will even out and more people start using Javelins/Stingers. I only played 3 matches this WE, at least one was pretty enjoyable and the kill streaks were shot down instantly. I also had a match where we got a whopping 4 AC130s (probably through care packages, I always get ammo), they weren't able to shoot down a single one and got spawn raped.

Anyway, the whole concept of the unlockables is fucked up. For a large part of players they are the driving force that makes them play the game. The focus shifts away from the core gameplay to something as artificial as perks. That's why I can safely say that I prefer Halo over CoD, it's a lot more enjoyable to play it with/against people who keep coming back for the game play's sake and not cause they need to grind for that next level.

It is! It's terrible. I made a comparison in a different thread between perks & unlocks to the "extra" mode in Soul Calibur. I think they're perfectly comparable.. the difference is that in Soul Calibur no one actually cares about that stuff! It's probably because shooters skew more towards a casual audience than fighters. Most people who still invest their time into fighters value a certain amount of balance that progression naturally damages.. and unfortunately (and it is unfortunate) that level of gameplay has taken a back seat to gimmicks that are aimed at keeping the casual audience more involved. They don't seem to care that there was already an audience willing to sink thousands of hours into a competitive game because there is a larger, untapped audience that is potentially more profitable if they can keep them playing.. and keep them purchasing content!

FPS and 1980 style fighting games :/ Yeah, direct comparison!

#1 example it doesn't work: No one cares to play SC's mode and MW2 is the best selling shooter ever.

Yep, perfect parallel :P

...what? What is a 1980 style fighting game? The comparison isn't as crazy as you're attempting to make it sound. Fighters and FPS are both genres that typically cater to a certain style of competition, and in both cases progression is being added in an attempt to broaden the audience. It's just more successful in the case of first person shooters, and I think it's pretty clear why. Shooters already have a broader, more casual audience waiting to eat that sort of stuff up.. and fighters skew towards a more dedicated (and smaller) hardcore crowd.. and the hardcore players in both cases are the ones who value balanced substance over flashy gimmicks.
