It was no secret, a PlayStation 5 Pro was bound to get released, with rumors stating it would be for this end of year. Well, the rumors were true, and this new version of the console embarking a 2TB SSD will even be available sooner than some expected, as it will ship on November 7 2024. That's the good news. As for the rest, well, opinions will probably vary. Sony chose to showcase the new console by using "old" PlayStation 5 exclusive, like Rift Apart, Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West or TLOU Part 2 Remastered, the point being that players will be able to enjoy fidelity modes with higher frame rates. Nice, but will it be enough to make people want to play these games again? Not quite sure. The addition of ray traced reflections during gameplay for GT7 is a lot more interesting, but Hogwarts Legacy seems to still be locked at 30 fps with ray tracing. It's a shame more recent releases such as Star Wars Outlaws or Black Myth: Wukong were not mentioned, let alone future exclusive AAA by PlayStation Studios. That said, the worst surprise of the event was obviously the pricing, though we all expected the Pro to be expensive. Still, $699/€799/£699 is a lot of money, especially considering there is no disc drive and no stand... It's a risky bet in our opinion. What do you guys think?
